Zentropa has announced via a Danish press release that they plan to adapt the Christian Jungersen bestseller DU FORSVINDER (You Disappear). The film will be directed by Peter Schønau Fog and will star Trine Dyrholm, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Michael Nyqvist. The film will be shot in Silkeborg, Copenhagen, Trollhattan and Mallorca between the 28th of September and 20th of November.

Du Forsvinder is the third novel by Christian Jungersen and the first to be adapted into a film. The book was a huge success in 2012, where it received great reviews and was on the Danish top 10 list for the whole year. The book got Readers’ Book Award and was also nominated for Politiken’s Literature Prize.

In the story, the respected and well-liked school principal Frederik (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) is arrested and charged with fraud in the millions. But as it turns out Frederik has had a brain tumour for the past three years that has changed his personality. With the help of his wife Mia (Trine Dyrholm) and his lawyer Bernard (Michael Nyqvist), they do everything possible to get him acquitted and save his family. Du Forsvinder asks who are we really? Do we have free will or is everything we do the result of the brain impulses? Du Forsvinder portrays a family’s struggle to hold together under extreme change.

YOU DISAPPEAR has anticipated theatrical release in February 2017.
