‘Woman at War’ wins SACD Award at Cannes Critics’ Week

The Icelandic film Woman at War has won the SACD Award at the Cannes Critics’ Week.

Woman at War is about Halla, a woman in her late 40s who declares war on the local aluminium industry, wanting to protect the Icelandic highlands. However, everything changes when an orphan enters her life.

The award is handed out every year by the French Society of Dramatic Actors and Composers. The idea of the award is to promote encouraging film-makers and the award comes with a cash prize of €5,000.

Writer/director Benedikt Erlingsson and co-writer Ólafur Egill Egilsson received the award.
