Watch the trailer for Finland’s first hillbilly horror film, Kyrsyä: Tuftland

The first trailer has been released for the new Finnish ‘hillbilly horror’ film, Kyrsyä: Tuftland [+].

The film revolves around a stubborn textile student, Irina, who takes a summer job in the isolated and offbeat village of Kyrsyä in an effort to overcome her personal problems.

Kyrsyä: Tuftland will have its North American premiere at the Other Worlds Festival in Austin, Texas, followed by its Asian premiere at the Jaipur International Film Festival in India.

This marks the directorial debut for Roope Olenius’ and features an ensemble cast of Finnish actors who have worked in the Finnish genre movement, including Veera W. Vilo, Jari Manninen and Enni Ojutkangas (Bunny the Killer Thing [+]), Saara Elina and Ari Savonen (Backwood Madness),  Miika J. Antilla (Ex-onnelliset (TV)), Janne-Markus Kataja and Neea Viitamäki. In addition, Ria Kataja (Black Ice, Open up to Me, Man and a Baby), one of the most celebrated actresses to come out of Finland plays a major role in the film.
