Virgin Mountain2

Over the weekend the Icelandic film won the audience award at CPH:PIX. What is this film about and why is it getting so much buzz around the international film circuit? Check out the trailer below!

The meeting with not one woman, but two, turns Fusi’s life upside down. He has gone on to become 43, he still lives with his mother and has made som routines in life that are comfortable and safe. So honestly: Who cares about women then, eh? What one should aim for with the ladies – or could hope for – is the great life-changing, apotheotic, liberating and transforming meeting. Maybe it is waiting out there. Icelandic Dagur Kári has not made a Nordic equivalent of ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’. It would also fit weird with his earlier films, for example the Danish ‘Dark Horse’ and, most recently, the American produced ‘The Good Heart’ which belongs in the introverted, psychologising department. Instead, he tender and charmingly depicts a lonesome giant with a small horizon and a big heart. Kári himself, who in his everyday life is head of the film director programme at the Danish Film School in Copenhagen, calls’ Virgin Mountain” for “an uplifting story about a man who is taking an important step into the rest of his life.” – CPHPIX
