Victor Kossakovsky Guest of Honour at Skjaldborg Documentary Festival

Russian documentary director Victor Kossakovsky will be the guest of honour at the upcoming annual Skjaldborg Documentary Film Festival (June 6-9), held in the fishing village of Patreksfjordur in northwest Iceland.

Kossakovsky is an established presence in the world of documentary films and the festival will screen several of his key works, including Belovy (1994) and Vivan las Antipodas! (2011). Kossakovsky will also give a masterclass during the festival.

Kossakovsky’s films have a strong focus on poetics and reality, mixed with a fine sense of humour. He’s also a highly valued speaker at festivals for his considerable charms andforthright opinions on filmmaking.

Here’s an excerpt from his 1994 film Belovy – and below a trailer for Vivan las Antipodas!
