Paris-based Versatile Film Sales has picked up the Icelandic film Sparrows directed by Rúnar Rúnarsson (pictured). The director’s first feature Volcano was selected at the 2011 Director’s Fortnight in Cannes. His new coming of age film is produced by Denmark’s Nimbus Film and its Icelandic arm Nimbus Film Iceland, in co-production with Pegasus Film (Iceland), MP Film (Croatia) and support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Nimbus Film’s Mikkel Jersin and Bo Ehrhardt are co-producers of the Norwegian film Louder than Bombs screening at this year’s main competition programme in Cannes. Versatile Film Sales has handled other Nordic films in the past such as Eskil Vogt’s award-winning Blind.
