The United States Distributor ‘Sundance’ has gained the Northern American rights for three Zentropa films: The Keeper of Lost Causes, The Absent One and A Conspiracy of Faith.
All three features are based on ‘The Department Q’ series by Jussi Alder Olsen. The first two films, The Keeper of Lost Causes and The Absent Ones have already become huge box office successes in Denmark, the latter becoming the best selling Danish film of the year. The last of the series, A Conspiracy of Faith is in its pre-production stage.
The deal was negotiated between Susan Wendt, head of sales at TrustNordisk, and Sean Berney, the manager of acquisitions at Sundance.
“Jussi Adler-Olsen’s thrilling Q Novels are a perfect fit for big screen adaptation,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. “We are thrilled to be bringing this successful Danish trilogy to American audiences.”
“We are very excited that our friends from Sundance Selects have picked up these three thrillers. With their great skills on theatrical releases and successful VOD-strategies, we feel confident that the films will reach a substantial audience in North America”, says Rikke Ennis, CEO at TrustNordisk
How exciting that US fans will soon be able to see the Department Q series!
