Two new Finnish television series have been announced

Two new Finnish television series have just received support from the Finnish Film Foundation. Both series will be directed by AJ Annila, who is the director behind Sauna and The Eternal Road.

The first series is The Peacemaker (Finnish title: Rauhantekijät), which is written by Erikka Etholén. Here’s the synopsis:

The main character Ann-Mari Koistinen has recently retired from her post as a crisis response adviser in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, when she is invited by the UN to lead an international conflict resolution process in Turkey. She has to reconcile with her past before her personal life comes in the way of the whole peace process.

The second series is Sphere of Shadows (Finnish title: Varjojen kehä). Less is known about this one, but it is a ten-part series written by Kirsti Manninen and her daughter Katri Manninen. The details of the series will be unveiled later this summer.
