Trine Dyrholm wins Silver Bear for Best Actress

Over the weekend the award ceremony for the Berlin International Film Festival was held, and Denmark’s Trine Dyrholm won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her role in Thomas Vinterberg’s The Commune.

In The Commune, Trine Dyrholm plays Anne, who along with her husband Erik (Ulrich Thomsen) and their daughter Freja, set up a commune in Erik’s villa in the upmarket district of Copenhagen. With the family as the centre of the story, the film explores the dream life of the commune – we participate in house meetings, dinners and parties. Everything is perfect until a love affair puts the community and the commune to its greatest test.

The Commune is produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa Entertainments19 in co-operation with Toolbox Film, co-produced by Film I Väst, Zentropa International Sweden, Topkapi Films and Zentropa International Netherlands with support from Danish Film Institute, DR, Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, The Netherlands Film Fund, Swedish Film Institute and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.
