THELMA picked up for UK distribution

The latest film by Norwegian director Joachim Trier, Thelma, has been picked up for British distribution, Screen reports.

Thunderbird Releasing is the company that picked up UK distribution rights. The company previously handled Trier’s other films Oslo, 31 August and Louder Than Bombs.

Thelma tells the story of a young woman who falls in love and realises that she has terrifying powers.

Thelma had its premiere at the Norwegian International Film Festival and will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival this month and the BFI London Film Festival next month.

The Orchard has the US rights to the film, and other European territories have also picked up Thelma.

Thelma is Norway’s selection for the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
