The winners of Sweden’s Guldbagge Awards

Over the weekend Sweden held its annual Guldbagge Awards, which are a celebration of Swedish film. The big winners included Drifters (five awards), followed by The Here After and Flocking with three awards each.

The board of the Swedish Film Institute has decided to give the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award to:

The Audience Award

A man called Ove

The Guldbagge Awards ceremony was held 18 January 2016 at Cirkus in Stockholm. Swedish Television (SVT) broadcasted the event live. Petra Mede was this year’s host.

Awarded annually since 1964, the Guldbagge (“Golden Beetle”) is the name of the Swedish Film Institute’s award for achievements during the previous year. The award itself, in the form of a flower chafer beetle, was designed by the artist Karl Axel Pehrson.
