The USA closes deals on ‘The Legacy’

Danish pubcaster DR has finalised with Universal Cable Productions (UCP) the agreement on the US remake of the Danish hit series The Legacy (Arvingerne). UCP will now start to develop the US version with the production company Hypnotic. Meanwhile the US production arm of NBC/Universal has one year to find a US TV station that will show the original Danish family drama. “The interest from the US to get the series has been tremendous. DR has had more than a handful of bids, and it is quite unusual that there are so many people bidding for the same series, said Helene Aurø DR Sales Deputy MD.

Piv Bernth, DR Head of Drama said UCP was selected after the US company explained in a creative pitch their vision for the US remake.
The Danish language series is currently airing in the UK on Sky Arts and has received excellent reviews in the British press. Season 2 of The Legacy will air on DR1 on January 1, 2015.
