CS: I read that you were inspired to make this film from a series of letters you found in the Royal Library of Copenhagen. Did you go looking for them exclusively with the intention of making a film about the slave trade or was it an accidental find?
DD: I was researching for a book; I’m also a fiction writer and I was writing a long poem and I thought that the Danish slave trade would be included in that poem. So, I was looking for eye witness accounts – people that had actually been there - and . . .
