‘The Nile Hilton Incident’ wins in Beaune

Upcoming Swedish/Danish film The Nile Hilton Incident has picked up the top prize at the Beaune International Thriller Film Festival over the weekend.

The Nile Hilton Incident follows Noredin (Fares Fares), a corrupt police officer assigned to investigate the murder of a club singer in a hotel room in the Nile Hilton. The film is set a few weeks prior to the Egyptian revolution of 2011, and throughout the film, Noredin realises that the murderers could be linked to the president’s inner circle. He then decides to switch camps, deliberately taking the side of those whom the regime has left on the sidelines.

The film previously picked up an award at the Sundance Film Festival and is due for theatrical release in France on the 12th of July. A Swedish release date is set for the end of September.
