The Moomin series has launched a crowdfunding campaign

The new adaptation of Tove Jansson’s Moomin characters are set to head to television with the help of a crowdfunding campaign, the Nordic Film & TV Fund reports.

These characters will be created from a cutting edge 2D/3D hybrid technique where characters are rendered in 3D in an environment with 2D illustrative elements. Finland’s Gutsy Animations and their UK partners hope to raise $200,000 via an Indiegogo campaign to contribute to the development of the series.

Steve Box (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit) will direct the film and Marika Makaroff will be the creative director/exec producer.

The crowdfunding will give Moomin fans the chance to get their hands on unique merchandise specifically designed for the new Moomin series. The Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign will run until March 31st, 2017.
