Editors note: the Gullruten TV awards are like the Emmys of Norway!

Filmkameratene’s drama series The Heavy Water War (Kampen om tungtvannet) directed by Per Olav Sørensen triumphed at Saturday’s Norwegian Emmys or ‘Gullruten’ TV awards, picking up Best TV Drama and Best Actor (Dennis Storhøi). Two weeks earlier, the show supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond had won four awards at the ‘behind the camera’ Fagpris celebration, grabbing Best Director, Costume, Production Design and VFK graphic design.

The Heavy Water War earned record breaking ratings when it aired earlier this year on NRK and the last episode was watched by 30% of the Norwegian population.

Other Gullruten awards were handed out to Elise Broch-Best Actress for Lilyhammer (Rubicon/NRK), Karl Johan, Best Comedy Programme (Norsk Fjernsyn/NRK), MK-X, Best Children or Youth Programme (NRK for NRK)), Breenpunkt: den siste reisen), Best TV Documentary (NRK for NRK), Født I feil kropp, Best Documentary or Factual Series (Merkur Film/TV2), and Sofa (Strix/NRK), Best New Programme Series Strix/NRK). The popular comedian/presenter Truls Svendsen was bestowed the Audience award for the second year in a row.
