TED – För kärlekens skull (no English title yet) is about Ted Gärdestad, one of Sweden’s most beloved artists and his dramatic short life full of contrasts. His incomparable breakthrough is without precedent in the history of Swedish pop music. At the beginning of the 70s everybody was in Ted fever, and an entire country was fascinated by his delight, energy, talent and fantastic songs. Overnight he became Sweden’s first real teenage idol.
The film is the story of a talented composer, his firm relationship with his brother, music and life. Ted’s story really touched an entire nation. His music has defined Swedish pop in many ways – with all the genius texts written by his brother Kenneth, full of life, love, pain and hope.
Ted is played by Adam Pålsson, and the film is directed by Hannes Holm, who has also directed the international success A Man Called Ove (En man som heter Ove). The film is produced by StellaNova Film, which has also produced the multiple Guldbagge Award-winning (Swedish Oscar) film Waltz for Monica (Monica Z), and is disributed by Nordisk Film. The other characters are played by Peter Viitanen, Happy Jankell, Lotta Ramel, Maria Kulle and Jonas Karlsson among others.
