The new Norwegian series Beforeigners has received production support from the Norwegian Film Institute in their latest round of funding.

The series will become the first HBO Nordic Norwegian Original Series. The title of the first HBO Nordic Original Series belongs to Lukas Moodysson’s Swedish language series Gösta.

Directed by Jens Lien (pictured), Beforeigners is about two people who arrive in Oslo under mysterious circumstances. Seven years later, the local community is totally transformed by the so-called refugees.

Beforeigners was granted NOK 9.5 million in production support. Jens Lien is known for directing The Bothersome Man. The series will be written by Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin, who previously worked on Lilyhammer.

Another series that received production support is the third season of the hit political thriller Occupied, which you can read about here.
