The Finnish Film Foundation supports 26 new projects

The Finnish Film Foundation has announced it will back 26 new projects, including four feature films, two minority co-productions, nine documentaries, four television series and seven short films.

One of the highlights is the next film from Mika Kaurismäki, which is titled Master Cheng. The film is the story of Cheng, a professional Chinese chefs who travels with his son to a remote Finnish village. Master Cheng is written by Hannu Oravisto and received €710,000 in support. The film is a Finnish/Chinese co-production and will be filmed throughout summer and autumn.

Another highlight is the new film from They Have Escaped‘s director, J-P Valkeapää. Called Mona, little is known about the narrative but it will be filmed in summer.
