The Swedish comedy series The Case (Fallet) is set to be remade in the United States.

The Swedish series is a satirical take on the Nordic Noir genre. We follow an awkward, anti-social Swedish police officer as she solves a gruesome murder alongside her cowardly British partner. You can read our review here.

The Case has been picked up by Showtime in the US. It will be written by Etan Frankel, who worked on the remake of Shameless. No release date has been announced.

It’s a great shame because The Case is yet to have a proper international release. It’s definitely worth seeing before any remake, so if you can get your hands on it do give it a watch!

  1. Good grief! Here the US goes again! Too cheap to buy the rights to show the original? Afraid Americans are incapable of or too lazy to read subtitles? It embarrasses me how the US will spend money to copy cat another country’s show. Pay up or get original! (BTW, I’m from Colorado.)
