THE BRIDGE co-creator boards new Danish television series

Danish pubcaster TV2 has announced a new crime drama is in the works.

The series will be written be The Bridge co-creator Nikolaj Scherfig and is based on the Dan Sommerdahl crime novel franchise, written by Anna Grue. It’s set to be a family-oriented take on the Nordic Noir genre, following a detective who solves murder cases in a coastal town. The series is described as a tight clean crime series reflecting on life outside the urban cities. It aims to understand how modernity and social development affect life in this coastal town.

The series, which is yet to be named, will go into production in summer 2017 with two versions to be made available internationally.

This new television series will be produced by Denmark’s Nordisk Film and Germany’s NDF, together with global distributor Dynamic Television.

Seven books out of the 12-part franchise have been published, and the agreement includes the author expanding the property and its characters. Multiple seasons are hoping to be produced.
