The Swedish Film Institute has granted funding to a new round of up and coming productions, including some top names we can look forward to. Here’s an overview of the major projects:

You Disappear

Trine Dyrholm (The Legacy), Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Nikolaj Lie Kaas (The Department Q series) star in You Disappear; a film about pleasant and respected Frederik who is arrested for fraud. When it turns out he has a brain tumour, his wife Mia and their lawyer try to get him off the hook.

Directed by acclaimed short-filmmaker Jens Assur, Ravens is a captivating drama set in the 1970s Swedish countryside where farmer Agne is troubled by demands on modernisation and his son Klas’s reluctance to take over running the farm. In his longing for freedom, Klas finds an escape in his keen interest in birds, and with new arrival Veronica. The film is based on the August Prize-winning novel by Tomas Bannerhed.

The Greatest

Fijona Jonuzi makes the 60-minute drama The Greatest (Den största av dom största), in which actor Micke and director Thommy create a one-man show together. With two weeks to go until the premiere, they have no material and their professional relationship gradually becomes a private struggle. The film is part of the Moving Sweden project.
