The Swedish actress has been cast in the third season of the hit British series Fortitude.
The series takes place in a small town in the Arctic that is regarded as one of the safest towns on Earth where no crime takes place. Well, the series uncovers the darker side of this town. Fortitude was inspired by the remote Arctic location of Svalbard, Norway. The first three seasons were filmed in Iceland, but the forth will be shot on location in Svalbard. The series is filmed in English with mostly British actors led by the American actor Dennis Quaid.
Season four will be the last in the series and will take place over four episodes. Oppheim will play a key role in the final season as Elsa Schental, a mysterious stranger from the US, whose fate becomes linked with Michael Lennox (Quaid). Lennox is drinking himself to death following the death of his wife, and he hopes Elsa will offer him some sort of redemption.
Many Scandinavian actors have starred in the series, including Danish actress Sofie Gråbøl. Icelandic actor Björn Hlynur Haraldsson stars throughout the four seasons. The Swedish actor Set Sjöstrand will have his major debut in season four, playing the young policeman Oby, sent by the Oslo authorities to investigate the case of parasites that tore down the remote Arctic community of Fortitude in season two. Other Scandinavian actors include Joi Johansson and Rune Temte.
