Sweden’s Bob Film picks up more series for remakes

The Swedish production company Bob Film has picked up the Norwegian comedy series Next Summer for remake.

Produced by Jan Blomgren, Next Summer has Peter Magnusson acting as show runner and the leading role as a man who shares a house with his wife and in-laws at a summer house in Stockholm’s archipelago. Other actors include Christine Meltzer, Jonas Karlsson, Anki Lidén and Krister Henrikssen.

The original Norwegian series won the 2016 Gullruten for Best Comedy series. The Swedish series will premiere on Kanal 5/Discovery in 2017.

This isn’t the first remake by Bob Film: they also remake the Finnish hospital series Nurses, the Swedish version titled Syrror. Next year Blomgren is also planning to release several new television series, including The Initiative, which is a mockumentary created by Tobias Hoffmen and Christoffer Sandler for SVT Play. It’s about a group of youngsters with no superpowers, dressed in superhero costumes and who try to fight injustice. SVT’s digital service will launch it late November.

He also has a feature film in production, Ulf Malmros’ My Future Love (pictured). The film is set in 1972 and tells the story of 20-year-old Scante who has an incurable heart condition. A subway trail suddenly takes him into the future where he meets Elsa. Together they try to find a way to stay together. This premieres in Sweden on the 11th of November in Sweden.
