Sverrir Gudnason to Play Mikael Blomkvist in ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’

According to Variety, IcelandicSwedish actor Sverrir Gudnason will star in the upcoming film The Girl in the Spider’s Web based on a book with same title written by Swedish author David Lagercrantz. He will join the cast to play the role of Mikael Blomkvist, the character who was played by Daniel Craig in the American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo released in 2011.

Sverrir has had his international breakthrough by playing iconic Swedish tennis player Björn Borg in the film Björn vs. McEnroe, and now has the chance to prove his acting skills in an American production. He is joining actresses Claire Foy, known for The Crown, playing Lisbeth Salander and Sylvia Hoeks, known for Blade Runner 2049, playing Lisbeth’s twin sister as well as Danish actor Claes Bang known for the Palme d’Or-winning film The Square directed by Swedish director Ruben Östlund.
