Sven Nordin to star in new Nordic Noir series WISTING

Norwegian actor Sven Nordin [+] is set to play detective William Wisting in a new high-end Norwegian crime series based on the novel by Jørn Lier Horst.

Wisting is a compassionate investigator who is trying to do good in the world. He is dedicated to solving the senseless and vicious murders that occur in his coastal town. However, that comes at a huge cost; namely failing your own family. On Christmas two mysterious deaths interrupt his family time, and so begins a showdown with the killer.

Nordin recently starred in this years’ high-end Norwegian drama, Valkyrien [+], where he played a doctor running a (literal) underground medical clinic while trying to find a cure for his wife’s illness.

The series will comprise of ten episodes and will take inspiration from the popular Wisting novel series, in particular, the two books The Hunting Dogs and The Caveman. Horst’s ‘Wisting’ series has had over 1.2 million copies sold in Norway and has been translated into thirty languages.

Wisting is produced by Norway’s Cinenord Drama and Denmark’s The Good Company, and the series is being made for the streaming service Viaplay, TV3 Norway and the German broadcaster ARD Degeto.

MTG Studios has also picked up the series, calling it ‘Norway’s biggest-ever drama production’. MTG Studios is the company behind Occupied, which has been a huge hit around the globe.
