Stella Blómkvist breaks records in Iceland

The new crime series Stella Blomkvist has been released in Iceland and is already breaking records with 150,000 orders in the first week, which is 54% of all households that subscribe to the streaming service Siminn Premium.

Based on the novel ‘The Murder in the Ministry’ by the pseudonymous novelist Stella Blómkvist, the series follows Blómkvist as she follows a trail of sex, murder and blackmail that leads her into a twisted maze of corruption within the government.

The series premiered on Iceland’s Siminn Premium and shattered the record held previously by The Handmaid’s Tale. Siminn is hugely popular in Iceland, with 45% of Icelandic households subscribing.

Stella Blómkvist will premiere across Scandinavia on Viaplay in early 2018. No further international release dates have been announced.
