Rúnar Rúnarsson’s new film Sparrows has been selected to compete as part of the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Film Festival, which takes place in Spain from the 18-26th of September.
Sparrows is a coming-of-age story about a 16-year old boy who lives with his mother in Reykjavík. She has to leave the country for a new job, sending him back to the remote, small town of his youth to live with his father whom he hasn‘t seen for six years.
Sparrows is written and directed by Rúnar Rúnarsson (Volcano). It is produced by Mikkel Jersin and Rúnar Rúnarsson for Nimbus Film, executive produced by Birgitte Hald and co-produced by Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir for Pegasus Pictures and Igor Nola for Mp Film. The film‘s main cast consists of Atli Óskar Fjalarsson, Ingvar E. Sigurdsson, Rakel Björk Björnsdóttir and Rade Serbedzija. Kjartan Sveinsson composed the film‘s score.
