Sony buys stake in production company behind JORDSKOTT

Sony Pictures Television have acquired a minority stake in Palladium Fiction, the production company behind the very successful Swedish television series, Jordskott.

Jordskott follows Detective Inspector Eva Thörnblad (Moa Gammel), who returns to Silver Height seven years after her daughter Josefine disappeared by a lake in the woods. The body was never found and they believe the girl drowned. Now a boy has vanished and Thörnblad wants to find out if there’s a link to her daughters disappearance. At the same time, she will take care of the legacy of her father, the great entrepreneur Johan Thörnblad, who build an empire of timber and timber processing on the large forest owned by his ancestors. As the plot deepens more children are kidnapped and what initially seems like a police drama takes a more sinister and stranger twist with each episode.

Jordskott was one of SVT’s most successful dramas last year when it premiered on the channel and went on to screen throughout the Nordics as well as the United Kingdom.

Palladium Fiction is run by Henrik Björn, Filip Hammarström and Johan Rudolphie, and the production company aims to create high-end dramas with an international appeal. Sony hill handle global distribution.

Palladium Fiction are currently working on a second season of Jordskott for SVT, and they also have three other projects in development including a collaboration with Jimmy Desmarais, producer of The Returned and The Last Panthers, which is described as “a thriller where quantum physics meets mystery”.
