Sofie Gråbøl to star as the Queen in new drama series

The Danish actress Sofie Gråbøl will star as Queen Marie of Denmark in a new drama series called Gentleman Jack.

The series is inspired by the diaries of Anne Lister who, after years of exotic travel around the world, returns to Halifax in 1832, determined to transform the fate of her ancestral home, Shibden Hall. In order to fund the restoration, Anne must re-open her coal mines and marry someone wealthy. However, she has no intention of marrying a man – but rather she plans to marry a very wealthy woman.

Gråbøl will feature as the Queen in a scene where Anne travels to Copenhagen.

Gentlemen Jack will air on BBC One and HBO in 2019.
