Sidse Babett Knudsen to star in female-powered thriller ‘Wildland’

Sidse Babett Knudsen will star in an upcoming Danish female-driven crime thriller called Wildland, Variety reports.

The film will be set in the Danish countryside around an old industrialised farming town. We follow seventeen-year-old Ida, who moves in with her aunt and cousins after the tragic death of her mother in a car accident. The home is filled with love, but outside of the home the family has a violent and criminal life. The story will be told through the eyes of Ida, with the atmosphere being gritty.

The cast includes Elliott Crosset Hove (Winter Brothers), Sandra Kampp, Joachim Fjelstrup (9th April), Besir Zeciri (The Bridge), Carla Roder, Sofie Torp and Omar Shargawi (Go With Peace, Jamil).

Sidse Babett Knudsen will play the mafia ringleader. She is, of course, best known around the world for her leading role in the hit Danish political series Borgen.

Wildland was written by Ingeborg Topsoe, who recently wrote the award-winning film The Charmer from directed Milad Alami.

Snowglobe is producing alongside France’s Bac Films, who will handle international sales. The movie is backed by DFI, DR, FilmFyn, Torino film lab, and Scanbox, which will release it in Scandinavia.
