Shamitabh: the first Bollywood film to be shot in the Finnish Lapland
When Amitabh Bachchan and R. Balki get together they always create something amazing if not unforeseen for the eyes of the audience.
Now Shamitabh is on its way, and while there is not much known about this movie, we have come to know that it is going to be the first Bollywood film to be shot in the Finnish Lapland.First there was Cheeni Kum, with Big-B in the role of a grouchy Indian chef who lives in London and falls in love with a woman half his age. Then came Paa, where the father and son, Amitabh and Abhishek switched roles with the former playing a 12-year-old school boy.
The spokesperson of the film has confirmed to The Times of India that Shamitabh will be the first film to be shot in Finland. The cast and crew of the film will soon be travelling to the Nordic country to shoot in the Arctic Circle and at the Lapland, which is the biggest area of Finland.
The spokesperson said, “Yes, Shamitabh will be shot in Finland covering locations like the Arctic Circle and Lapland that have never been shot at before”.
The film’s unit will be shooting in Finland over a period of 10 days. The scenes to be shot in the Scandinavian Peninsula will be some of the most important scenes of the film. Details of the scenes, however, are being tightly kept under wraps.
Shamitabh also stars Tamil superstar Dhanush, and Kamal Hassan’s younger daughter Akshara Hassan who will be making her debut with this feature film. This is Dhanush’s second Bollywood film after last year’s hit Raanjhanaa.
Despite being shot in unchartered land, Shamitabh is maintaining a modest budget of 40 crores. Amitabh Bachchan is also producing this film along with his son Abhishek, Dhanush, and R. Balki himself among others.
Music legend Ilaiyaraaja is composing the film’s score and P.C. Sreeram is handling the cinematography.
