Swedish-turned-international actress Alicia Vikander‘s new film Submergence will open the San Sebastian Film Festival next month.
Directed by Wim Wenders, Submergence follows Danielle Flinders (Vikander) and James More (James McAvoy), who meet by chance and fall in love in a remote hotel in Normandy where they were both preparing for a dangerous mission. James is a Secret Service agent on a mission to Somalia to track down a source for suicide bombers infiltrating Europe. Danielle is a bio-mathematician working on a deep sea diving project to support her theory about the origin of life on our planet.
Submergence will also compete for the coveted Golden Shell.
