Season two of ‘Bordertown’ to start shooting in August

The second season of the Finnish crime series Bordertown will shoot this Autumn, nordicfilmandtvnews.com reports.

The series, which follows inspector Kari Sorjonen, will shoot from the 8th of August until the 7th of November in Lappeenranta, Helsinki and Estonia.

In the second season, Sorjonen (who is played by Ville Virtanen), will try to solve five new cases. The quirk of Bordertown is that Sorjonen lives on the Finnish/Russian border, which is the basis behind the crimes he solves, and at the same time, he has to solve family issues. In season two, the stakes will be even higher.

Anu Sinisalo, Matleena Kuusniemi, Olivia Ainali, Lenita Susi and Laura Malmivaara will reprise their roles.

Season one of Bordertown is currently streaming on Netflix in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Eastern Europe, Russia and the Netherlands. The first season had 1.3 million Finns tune in for the first episode, and it won three Golden Venlas (Finnish Emmys) for Best Drama series, Best Actor (Virtanen) and Best Actress (Anu Sinisalo).
