Scandinavian television series compete at Series Mania

Scandinavian television series have been selected to compete at Series Mania, a television drama festival in Paris.

Competing in the main competition are two series. The first is Monster, a Norwegian crime series starring Jakob Oftebro. Oftebro plays Joel Dreyer, an investigator from Oslo who is sent up north to Finnmark to work on a crime scene. He feels like a fish out of water in the remote community where he has to collaborate with the local young investigator Helle Gilbert (Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes), and old sheriff (Bjørn Sundquist) while dealing with matriarch Margot van Gemert (Gørild Mauseth), head of a criminal enterprise. The series will debut on NRK in autumn 2017 and hopefully travel internationally. Next is the Danish drama series Rides Upon the Storm, produced by DR Drama. Lars Mikkelsen and Ann Elonora star in this series created by Adam Price, who will be in Paris to introduce the series, which is about the concept of good and evil.

Meanwhile, in the International Panorama section, the Danish hostage series Below the Surface and the Swedish crime series Before We Die will represent the Nordic region. Season two of Occupied will screen in the Brand New Seasons section. The French/Danish series Ø will compete in the programme for international Web and Digital Series, and the Finnish youth series Mental is among the Festival’s Favourites section.

Series Mania takes place between the 13th and 23rd of April.
