Scandinavian film locations: Denmark

  • The Pusher trilogy: Nicholas Winding Refn’s breakthrough success came from the Pusher trilogy. However, the film succeeds in hiding anything positive about Copenhagen. The main location in the film was the inner city suburb of Vestrbro.
  • Northwest: Michael Noer’s film follows teenagers stealing and dealing drugs in the Copenhagen suburb of Nordvest. Much like Pusher, it avoids showing any positive aspects of the city.
  • Submarino: Another film about drug use, Submarino includes key locations like the Tivoli Gardens. Here, the characters are often seen wandering the streets of the capital city.
