San Sebastian: An Award to the Danish film The Charmer

Milad Alami’s feature debut The Charmer won the Fedeora Award from Film Critics Association at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. The film will be screened at the Chicago and Warsaw International Film Festivals next.

In an intriguing study of cultural diversity and family values, this filmmaker deals, in a delicate way, with one of the biggest challenges in Europe nowadays, giving the characters a new ground to show what makes them close to each other rather than what sets them apart. With a smart and mature directing, he portrays a story lived by many, allowing his actors to give the best of themselves. — The jury of the Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean (FEDEORA)

The Charmer was produced by Stinna Lassen for Good Company Films, in co-production with Sweden’s Garage Film and Film i Väst, support from the Danish Film Institute’s New Danish Screen and the Swedish Film Institute. Alma Cinema handles world sales.
