Rising star Lisa Teige to star in Norwegian youth dance film

The up and coming Norwegian actress Lisa Teige has been confirmed to be starring in Battle, the first-ever Nordic take on the modern dance genre.

Teige is best known for her role in the teen-drama web-series Skam, which has achieved cult status beyond the Nordic countries. Teige played Eva in the series, and she has become the first member of the Skam cast to break into cinema.

Battle is an adaptation of Maja Lunde’s novel and centres on Amalie (Tegie), a girl who wants for nothing in her life. She lives in a wealthy part of Oslo, is beautiful, and is talented at dancing. When her father’s company goes bankrupt, she is forced to move to a poorer part of the city and it changes her life. There, she meets street dancer Mikael, played by hip-hop dancer Fabain Svegaard Tapia, who introduces her to dance battle. Amalie, who also falls in love with Mikael, now has to find a way to nurture her talent and discover how to strike a balance in her underprivileged new life.

Battle is directed by Katarina Launing and will draw inspiration from the classics Dirty Dancing and Flashdance.

Battle is a Norwegian/Swedish/Danish/Dutch co-production. It is produced by Storm Films and Friland Production along with Zentropa Sweden, Adomeit Film and Phanta Basta!. It has received funding from FilmFyn and the Nordisk Film and TV Fond.

Shooting has wrapped in Odense and the film is set to premiere in Norway on the 28th of September. No international release date has been announced.
