RIDE UPON THE STORM takes out the top prize at the Danish television awards

The winners of the Danish television awards, TVprisen, were held last week, with Ride Upon the Storm taking out the prize for Best Danish Drama.

The series, which is created by Adam Price, recently won the Nordisk Film og TV Fond Prize, which rewards television writing. Ride Upon the Storm stars Lars Mikkelsen as Pastor Johannes, and is a character-driven drama that follows Johannes and his wife and two sons as they balance good and evil.

Ride Upon the Storm was competing against the equally-excellent The Legacy 3, The Day Will Come, Below the Surface, Something’s Rockin’, Norskov 2Rita 4 and Perfect Places.

This wasn’t Mikkelsen’s only association with winners; he is also the narrator of DR’s documentary series History of Denmark, which won the Innovation Prize and the Audience Prize.

Last Men in Aleppo won Best Documentary, Klassen won Best Children’s Programme, and the documentarist Poul-Erik Heibuth was handed the honorary Otto Award.
