Universal Studios has announced that a number of Scandinavian actors have been cast in the upcoming film The Snowman, which is based off the popular novel by Jo Nesbø.

Norwegian Jakob Oftebro (Gold Coast, The Last King), Swedish Sofia Helin (The Bridge) and David Dencik (Men and Chicken, Gentlemen and Gangsters) are among the names of Nordic actors who will star alongside Michael Fassbender in the English-language film.

Recording of The Snowman is well underway, with several scenes recorded in Oslo last month. In a few weeks production will move to Bergen, where they will record a scene at the top of Ulriken.

15-year-old Michael Yates plays Holes “stepson” Oleg and Swedish Rebecca Ferguson plays police detective Katrine Bratt.

Jakob Oftebro will play Harry Hole’s police colleague Magnus Skarre, Michael Yates will play Oleg, and Swede Rebecca Ferguson will play Katrine Bratt. Sofia Helin’s role has not yet been announced.
