Petra Mede will host next year’s Swedish film awards

Swedish actress Petra Mede has been confirmed to host the 2018 Guldbagge Awards, which is the Swedish version of the Academy Awards.

You may recognise Petra from her work in Swedish film and TV, such as the comedy The Bonus Family, or perhaps because this will be the sixth time she hosts the awards. Or, if you are a fan of Eurovision, you’ll know she has hosted the song contest twice.

The Guldbagge Awards were first held in 1964, and regularly attracts around 1.2 million viewers. Petra is one of the reasons it is so popular.

The first Guldbagge awards took place in September 1964, with Ingmar Bergman collecting Best Director for The Silence (Tystnaden). It regularly attracts around 1.2 million viewers and, according to a YouGov poll conducted in September, Petra Mede is one of the main reasons it remains so popular.

The 2018 Guldbagge Awards will be held on the 22nd of January.

Watch Petra sing a song called ‘Swedish Smörgåsbord’ to put you in a good mood for your Friday!

Since these videos so much fun, here’s Petra with Måns Zelmerlow:
