Per Fly’s new English-language thriller about economic corruption, Backstabbing for Beginners, is set to start production in Copenhagen after backing from the Copenhagen Film Fund.

Ben Kingsley and Theo James are confirmed to star in the story of a Dane caught up in a power struggle with corrupt colleagues while working for the UN’s Oil for Food programme. Per Fly co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Pyne and the film will be produced by Malene Blenkov, Lars Knudsen, Nikolaj Vibe Michelsen and Jay van Hoy for Creative Alliances and Parts and Labour DK.

The Copenhagen Film Fund has invested 400,000 so the film can start shooting in large sections of Copenhagen from April. The film has already started shooting in Morocco. The Copenhagen Film Fund started three years ago and already has funded The Danish Girl and The Bridge season three, to name a few.
