Norwegian films premiering in the USA

Three new Norwegian films are set to premiere in the USA this year. Scandinavia’s first disaster movie, The Wave, had its premiere in twenty cinemas around the USA earlier this month and has so far had excellent reviews, including the Wall Street Journal stating that ‘the intimate sense of family and community pulls us into the unfolding drama and never for a moment lets us go”.

Joachim Trier’s Louder Than Bombs is due for release in New York and LA on the 8th of April, and will include appearances by Trier himself. The film was the first Norwegian contender for the Palme d’Or in Cannes in thirty six years, and earlier this month won the Norwegian Film Critics Prize.

Nils Gaup’s The Last King is due for release in the USA on the 17th of June.

I will be looking forward to seeing them. I just hope they will be shown in our area. We need more film diversity and talented foreign films snd film makers.
