Norwegian director Iram Haq to create a television series

The Norwegian director Iram Haq has announced to Dagsavisen that she is creating a television series.

The series is titled Our Street (Tante Ulrikkes vei), and is adapted from the best-selling novel by Zeshan Shakar. The book is about two second generation immigrant boys who are growing up on the street ‘Tante Ulrikkes vei’ in East Oslo, and the different family backgrounds they have. It will be a coming of age story that explores immigration and integration through the story of these two boys.

The Norwegian public broadcaster NRK has picked up the series. Iram Haq is writing the screenplay with Hilde Hagerup in cooperation with Zeshan Shakar and Anne Bjørnstad. Haq will also direct the series, and this will be her first work in television. Her film What Will People Say is currently screening around various international festivals.

No release dates have been announced for the series.
