Norwegian actor Baard Owe passes away

The Norwegian actor Baard Owe [+] has passed away at the age of 81.

Owe passed away at his home on the 11th of November after ending a short-term treatment of lung cancer. He has worked as an actor in a huge number of Scandinavian films, and according to VG.no worked right up until the day before he died. He was married to actress Marie-Louise Coninck for sixty years.

Owe was educated at the National School fo Theatre in Oslo and spent some time in Denmark working in theatre and film. He worked in Danish films including Carl Th. Dreyer’s Gertrud (1964) [+], Lars von Trier’s Europa (1991) [+]Headhunters (2011) [+]Copenhagen (2014) [+]Villmark 2 (2015) [+] and most recently in the Danish science fiction film QEDA (2017) [+]. He is probably most known for his leading role in Bent Hamer’s [+] O’Horten (2007) [+], which was chosen as the Norwegian Oscar entry in 2009.

His last film role was starring as Christian IV in the Danish feature film C4 which will premiere next year.
