Norway’s ‘The River’ heads to the United Kingdom

The Norwegian crime series The River (Elven) has been picked up by All4 & Walter Presents for release in the United Kingdom.

The crime drama is set in the village of Djupelv (Djup River), which is on the Norwegian/Russian border. During one of NATO’s winter exercises, a dismembered hand is discovered in a river by a local Sami girl. Local police officer Thomas takes the case, despite warnings from his superior. When the girl (who found the hand) is found murdered, the case takes a sinister turn.

The story is inspired by true events.

The River stars Espen Reboli Bjerke, Ingeborg Raustøl and Dennis Storhøi. You’ll be able to watch the series on Channel 4 from the 14th of January, with all episodes becoming available on All4 and Walter Presents later on.
