Nordisk Film sets up possibilities to remake 1200 titles

Nordisk Film has partnered with nine leading film entertainment companies in a new venture called Globalgate, which is set up to exploit the remake potential of local-language films around the world. The partners include Lionsgate in the USA, Gaumont in France, Tobis in Germany, Belga in Benelux, TME in Turkey, Televisa/Videocine in Mexico, Kadokawa in Japan and Lotte Entertainment in South Korea.

Globalgate enables Nordisk Film’s catalogue of 1200 titles to be offered to other members of the network for production as local language films and vice versa. Among the Scandinavian films to be offered for remake are the Danish comedies The Reunion (already remade in Finland and Estonia), Oh Happy Day, Lykkevej, Lotto and the Olsen Gang children’s films.
