Nordic Films and Kim Bodnia are Coming to Kilkenny

This years Subtitle European Film Festival in Kilkenny will screen films from all of Europe, including Norway, Sweden, and Finland. This is the worlds only festival of exclusively European subtitled films, and the Nordic films included are:

  • Nokas (Norway)
  • Heart of a Lion (Finland)
  • Stockholm Stories (Sweden)
  • Of Horses and Men (Iceland)
  • Pioneer (Norway)
  • ‘Secret Screening’ (Finland)

In addition to this, Kim Bodnia (The Bridge), Morten Suurballe (The Killing, The Bridge) and Allan Hyde (True Blood)is set to be the Nordic guests of the overall 25 guests attending the festival.

The opening film is the Dardenne brothers’ powerful drama, Two Days, One Night, starring Marion Cotillard, which was shown earlier this year at the IFI, and the closing festival will be The Tribe, the Ukrainian drama which won the Grand Prix at Cannes earlier this year. Other highlights include A Coffee in Berlin and Three Many Weddings. The Polish film Ida, Paolo Sorrentino’s stunning, fictional homage to Rome, La Grande Bellezza or The Great Beauty, and Romanian Silver-Bear-winning drama,Child’s Pose will also be shown.
