Nikolaj Coster-Waldau to star in ‘Suicide Tourist’

The Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is set to star in the upcoming Danish film Suicide Tourist, Variety reports.

Suicide Tourist is about the insurance claims adjuster Max, who is investigating a man’s disappearance. The trail leads him to a secretive hotel that offers its guests elaborate assistance in fulfilling their fantasy suicides. Caught in his own existential crisis, Max begins to question his perception of reality and wonders if death is the only way out of the hotel.

Coster-Waldau stars alongside Swedish actress Tuva Novotny, who has starred in The King’s Choice and Borg vs. McEnroe, and recently made her directorial debut with Blind Spot. The cast also includes Sobjørg Højfeldt (Ride Upon the Storm, Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones), Lorraine Hilton (The Wolfman), Kaya Wilkins (Thelma), and Sonja Richter (The Keeper of Lost Causes). We of course know Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones, but he has also starred in a number of Danish films including Three Things and A Second Chance.

Copenhagen-based Snowglobe is producing, with Dane Jonas Alexander Arnby directing. We know Arny from his directorial debut, When Animals Dream, which had a successful festival run and theatrical release in the U.S.

Suicide Tourist will be presented at the American Film Market next week. The film is currently shooting in Norway and is due to be released in spring 2019.
