Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn has taken to Twitter to tease his new project.
The tweet makes reference to two different novels. The first from William Burroughs is Nova Express, a novel from 1964 that is written using a ‘fold-in’ method, which involves enfolding snippets of different texts. The novel is a social commentary on machine control in human life, with ‘control’ being the main theme of the novel.
The second reference is one of the James Bond novels titled Dr. No from Ian Fleming. This 1957 novel sees James Bond travelling to the Caribbean to investigate the disappearance of a secret service team. He uncovers the astonishing truth about strange energy waves interfering with U.S. missile launches and has to search for Doctor No, a six-foot-six madman with a mania for torture, a lust to kill and a fantastic secret to hide.
The new NWR film must be an interesting blend of the two ideas. What do you think it could possibly be?
Dear Friends … More to come but for now Ian Fleming + William Burroughs + N W R = The Avenging Silence pic.twitter.com/IVV72236SX
